Here
are a few copies of the free daily newspaper, produced by the Toronto
Star.
It was my responsibility to make sure everything had a place, and was
in its proper place. I was the last employee
to verify the edition was correct, before transmission.
Once I established all was right, I paired each spread on our custom
software and sent the files, by 9:30 pm, to our printing plant in Vaughan,
Ontario.
Details:
1. Parimpozz - Autologic - ParImpoZ-121, (written by Daniel Rodrigue)
used for final transmission of paired pages to Vaughan.
2. Harland Simon Display Tracking. Display monitor to show final separated
film arriving in film room in Vaughan.
3. Userland Frontier program for Quark Dispatch Manager (2.0). Used
to transfer photo images from high-res server to low-res server.
4. QuarkDispatch with three major components, QuarkXPress, QuarkCopyDesk
2.0, and QuickWire 2.43. QuickWire 2.43. - to access news stories over
a dedicated news wire service. QuarkCopyDesk 2.0 - multiple use program
for editorial to access both stories and photos for placement in each
days publication.
