Web Projects for Consumers Gas (now Enbridge)

In the summer of 1996, I was asked by Consumers Gas to create a new web site for their internal web works.
The task was to develop a new site which could eventually represent the company on the www.

Not having much experience at web production at that time, I hastily got my act together and acquired an HTML editing program.
Design is one thing but making all the elements work smoothly over a network was the real challenge

This is the first project I was given, as the Home Page for Consumers Utilities, a new branch of their corporation, which eventually turned out to be Enbridge. An existing set of guides was used for print media and I was asked to adhere to that standard as much as possible. After some education for both of us I delivered a snappy three whole screens for their network. This was to be only a design direction, so I worked it in Director and set it up to look as though it was actually playing in Netscape.
They liked it!

The second program for Consumers' was to re-create the Consumers' Blue Flame newsletter. This was a major undertaking, setting the format for all subsequent issues of the newsletter and adapting graphics to suit the internal network. I was to highlight their new ACT program which was almost complete by summers end. It worked quite well when played over the network. This sample is only a small part of that project.
The third job was to recreate a site for Consumers' Premium Catalogue for employees. This catalogue contains all items, clothing, accessories, sports equipment etc. sold by Consumers. Most of`the product photography was already existing in digital format.
This was easy.

My final project was for Consumers Business Continuity Program. This was a one screen effort with 9 separate image maps linked to generic sights. These were to be re-configured by the Consumers web guys at some future date because the program was still under construction when I had to leave.

The next item I developed was a web site for Lorden House, bed and breakfast in Niagara-on-the Lake... Please click to go to actual site.
