Doug MacBean
Personal art lessons, in painting and drawing.

You may now have art lessons in the privacy and comfort of your own home, or in my studio. Your choice.

The benefit of having a one-on-one teacher is directly relevant to your degree in improving your skills as an artist.

Some folks do very well in a typical classroom environment while others have a preference for immediacy in their progress. Kind of like your own, personal trainer in the art world.

Whether in my home studio, in the Gage Park area of Hamilton, or in the privacy of your own home studio/corner-of-the-room, you have my attention, when you need it.

If you are a rank beginner or professional designer, I can show you the way to manipulate colour, form and line, to improve your academic art skills. I start where you feel comfortable. If simple line drawing in pencil or pen is all you desire, it is just as rewarding as any other medium. Watercolour or Acrylic, again, it's your choice.

If you wish to paint in oils on canvas, as I do, there are many little tricks and basic applications I can demonstrate to help improve your style. My approach to teaching art is to let students travel in the direction of their choice. I guide the student through the basics of solid academic and fundamentals, recognized in all traditional schools of art. I do not insist that anyone copy my particular style or content etc. Each artist shows individuality in the work. That is what makes art and the process fun and intriguing.

I simply offer a less crowded environment.

Please observe my particular style of painting and drawing. If you think it valid and professional enough for your needs, call me and let's discuss your particular requirements, time etc.

  •  All lessons are $ 35.00 hr. CDN. with a two hour minimum for instructions
    outside my studio.
  •  If distance for my travel is over 10 km, a relevant travel expense will be added.
  •  If you are just beginning, and need to purchase materials etc. please call and I will advise.
  •  Scheduling of classes will coincide on a first-come/enrolled basis.
